Budanov announced a new round of peace talks in October
On September 12, Kirill Budanov announced preparations for a new round of negotiations aimed at ending the war. According to him, the meeting is scheduled to take place in October 2026 in a trilateral format.
“We’re getting ready. For October,” Budanov said, responding to a question about the timing of the next meeting.
The head of the Office of the President confirmed that the talks would indeed take place in a trilateral format—between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia.
At the same time, he did not specify where exactly the meeting might take place; in particular, he did not confirm reports that the talks might be held in the Middle East.
Budanov made these remarks on the sidelines of the YES Annual Meeting 2026, organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, according to RBC-Ukraine.
Prior to this, Budanov had made a statement about a ceasefire until winter.
