The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a unique operation, intercepting an enemy Shahed-type strike UAV using an unmanned surface platform. The successful strike was carried out by a battalion of the 412th Nemesis Brigade, which operates in the maritime operational zone.

The new defense method involves launching an interceptor drone directly from an unmanned boat located in the open sea. This combination of maritime and aerial technologies allows for the destruction of enemy targets even as they approach the coast, creating an additional layer of air defense. This effectively extends the range of Ukrainian air defense systems to maritime areas where the enemy often attempts to establish attack routes.
The integration of various types of unmanned systems is a strategic step in countering regular air threats from the Russian Federation. The use of mobile surface platforms makes defense more flexible and unpredictable for the enemy. The new tactics enhance the security of Ukrainian coastal cities and critical infrastructure, ensuring high effectiveness at a relatively low cost of resources.
