Dozens of fires break out every day in Ukraine due to attacks by the Russian Federation

Russian shelling has once again led to large-scale fires in Ukraine. In just one day, rescue workers recorded more than two hundred fires, and in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, fires often broke out immediately after attacks by the occupying forces. Wheat fields were also burned by falling drone debris.

According to the State Emergency Service, 212 fires broke out in ecosystems across Ukraine over the past 24 hours, affecting more than 86 hectares of land. The situation was most severe in the south of the country, where Russian strikes continue to cause new fires. In the Kherson region, 15 fires broke out in ecosystems over the past 24 hours, six of which were caused by Russian attacks.

The State Emergency Service reported that the occupiers continue to destroy the Ukrainian harvest. Wheat fields caught fire due to falling debris from enemy drones. In the village of Mala Oleksandrivka in the Beryslav district, the fire destroyed about one hectare of crops. Another five hectares of wheat were burned outside the village of Koshari. “The enemy continues to destroy our harvest,” the State Emergency Service emphasized.

The situation was no less tense in the Zaporizhzhia region. There, 24 fires broke out in ecosystems over the course of a day, 17 of which were caused by Russian shelling. In addition, fires were reported in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Cherkasy, and other regions of Ukraine. Some of the fires were caused by the heat and dry weather, but in regions near the front lines, Russian attacks remain the primary cause.

Rescue workers note that they are currently operating under extremely difficult conditions. Following shelling, they must simultaneously extinguish large fires and prevent them from spreading to residential buildings, forests, and farmland. According to the State Emergency Service, nearly 14,800 fires in ecosystems have been extinguished in Ukraine since the beginning of 2026. The total area affected by the fires exceeded 6,500 hectares.

Rescue workers are once again urging citizens to exercise the utmost caution during this fire-prone period. At the same time, authorities in frontline regions emphasize that a significant portion of large-scale fires are caused precisely by Russian strikes, which continue to destroy Ukraine’s natural environment, crops, and civilian infrastructure. The State Emergency Service reported this on Facebook.

As a result of a massive Russian strike on the capital, a leased humanitarian warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian Red Cross was completely destroyed; it had stored over 320,000 items of cargo and equipment with a total value of more than 79 million hryvnias

As a result of Russian shelling and a fire at one of the capital’s enterprises, fuel and lubricants flowed into Kyrylivskyi Lake in Kyiv through the storm sewer system.
