Due to the nighttime threat posed by Russian drones, Ukrzaliznytsia suspended train service 111 times
On the night of September 16–17, Ukrzaliznytsia suspended train service 111 times due to drone threats. Currently, some trains are running late.
“The enemy continues to target the railway, but the night passed without any casualties. Ukrzaliznytsia’s Monitoring Center initiated 111 passenger train stops overnight, detecting either a direct threat or a train entering the strike radius,” the statement reads.
Due to these forced stops, a number of trains are currently experiencing delays. In particular, trains No. 7/8 Odesa–Kharkiv and No. 53/54 Dnipro–Odesa will travel along a safer alternate route, which will increase the estimated travel time by 6 hours.
After a locomotive was shelled in the Mykolaiv region, passengers on one of the trains were forced to travel part of the way by bus and were evacuated multiple times along the route.
Oleksandr Shevchenko, head of passenger communications at JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” reported this on Facebook.
Ukrzaliznytsia is launching a new electric train equipped with Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
