Power outages in five regions due to Russian attacks — Ukrenergo

As a result of new Russian drone and artillery attacks, power outages were reported in five regions of Ukraine as of the morning of May 27.

According to information from NPC Ukrenergo, consumers in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions are without power.

Power utility workers are responding promptly to network damage and working to restore power to residents as quickly as possible. Where safety conditions permit, emergency repair work is already underway.

In addition to hostilities, the situation in the power grid has been significantly complicated by severe weather conditions in the north of the country. Due to a powerful thunderstorm and strong gusts of wind, 15 settlements in the Sumy region were completely or partially without power by morning.

Local power company specialists have begun repair work on power lines where safety conditions permit. The severe weather requires repair crews to make additional efforts to address the aftermath of the storm.

At the same time, the country is seeing an increase in the load on the main power grids. As of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, electricity consumption was 2.9% higher than the previous day.

Ukrenergo attributes this shift in trend to cloudy weather and rain in some regions of Ukraine, which is causing low efficiency in residential solar power plants.

This is forcing dispatchers to seek additional reserves to cover the shortfall.
