Nine militants who fought against Ukraine on the side of Russia were sentenced to 15 years in prison

A court sentenced nine Ukrainian citizens who fought against the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the side of the Russian Federation to up to 15 years in prison, with confiscation of their property.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, between 2016 and 2025, seven residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as two natives of Crimea, joined illegal armed groups and signed contracts with the Russian armed forces.

They were found guilty of treason and collaboration.

The convicted individuals served in various positions within Russian occupation units, including as riflemen, snipers, driver-mechanics, grenade launchers, and signalmen. They participated in combat operations in the Kherson and Luhansk regions, as well as in the areas of Maryinka, Toretsk, Avdiivka, Bakhmut, Volnovakha, Kramatorsk, and Pokrovsk.

Their tasks included assault operations, constructing fortifications, manning checkpoints, delivering ammunition and supplies, repairing equipment, and maintaining radio communications.

According to the prosecutor’s office, one of the convicted men guarded the railroad tracks and set up firing positions around the Olenivka penal colony to prevent the possible release of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

For participating in the war on the side of the Russian Federation, they received between 170,000 and 220,000 rubles per month. All were detained during battles against Ukrainian forces.

In Kharkiv, a scheme to smuggle men abroad via the TCC was uncovered.
