The bodies of 261 fallen soldiers were returned to Ukraine from Russia
As a result of repatriation efforts, the bodies of 261 deceased individuals—who, according to the Russian side, are Ukrainian servicemen—have been returned to Ukraine.
Upon their return to Ukraine, investigators from law enforcement agencies, together with representatives from forensic institutions, will carry out the necessary procedures to identify the deceased.
The repatriation was carried out thanks to the joint efforts of representatives of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service (SES), and other agencies in the security and defense sector.
The Coordination Headquarters also thanked the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance and support during the repatriation efforts.
Separately, the headquarters commended the work of the personnel of the Joint Center for Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Its representatives are transporting the repatriated remains of the deceased to specialized state institutions.
The bodies will then be transferred to law enforcement agencies under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and to forensic medical examination institutions under the Ministry of Health.
Specialists will conduct the necessary examinations and procedures to identify the deceased and confirm their affiliation.

Prior to this, the bodies of 501 deceased individuals were returned to Ukraine as part of routine repatriation efforts. According to information from the Russian side, the remains may belong to Ukrainian servicemen who died during combat operations.
