The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged CIS observers not to travel to the occupied territories during the elections to the Russian State Duma

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has called on members of the CIS observer mission not to visit Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories during the elections to the Russian State Duma.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that any voting conducted by Russia on Ukrainian territories is illegal and violates Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Ukrainian side stated that the results of such a vote will have no legal consequences, and the presence of foreign observers does not alter the illegal nature of the electoral process.

The ministry called on CIS countries to respect international law, refrain from participating in actions that could contribute to the legitimization of the Russian occupation, and not recognize the results of the illegal vote in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
