In the town of Kirishi in Russia’s Leningrad region, drones struck the Kirishinefteorgsintez (KINEF) oil refinery, one of the largest in the country. Information about the consequences of the attack is currently being clarified.

This was reported by the Telegram channel Astra, citing local residents.

The regional governor, Alexander Drozdenko, confirmed that damage occurred in an industrial zone in the Kirishi district as a result of the drone attack. According to him, a total of 21 drones were allegedly shot down in the region, and no casualties were reported.

Kirishinefteorgsintez (KINEF) is the largest oil refinery in the region and one of the largest in Russia. It produces petrol, diesel, kerosene, fuel oil and petrochemicals.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed that 125 drones were shot down overnight between 25 and 26 March, according to the BBC Russian Service.

The defence ministry stated that the drones were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vologda, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov, Smolensk, Tver, Tula and Yaroslavl regions, as well as near Moscow, over annexed Crimea, and the Black Sea.

Russia has reportedly halted oil exports via the Baltic Sea following the drone attack.

Earlier, around ten powerful explosions were reported in the Russian cities of Saratov and Engels.
