SBU drones struck the Russian "Gorky" oil pumping station
On the night of April 23, drones from the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center struck the “Gorky” oil pumping station in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region. The attack caused a massive fire and resulted in damage to the infrastructure.
This was reported by sources within the SBU.
The Gorky oil pumping station is a key component of Russia’s oil transportation system and is part of Transneft – Upper Volga JSC. The station facilitates the transportation of oil via main pipelines, specifically along the Surgut–Gorky–Polotsk route.
The facility pumps crude oil to domestic destinations, including the Lukoil oil refinery in Kstovo.
According to preliminary data, three oil storage tanks were damaged as a result of the strike. The fire covered an area of approximately 20,000 square meters.

“Damage to such system-critical facilities causes serious disruptions in oil supply logistics within the Russian Federation. It disrupts the operation of main pipelines, reduces refining efficiency at oil refineries, and increases transportation costs,” the source noted.
The SBU emphasizes that such strikes directly impact Russian budget revenues, which are used to finance the war against Ukraine.
In addition, the attack struck five oil storage tanks at once. On the night of April 21, drones from the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center struck the “Samara” line-production-dispatch station in Russia, after which a massive fire broke out there.
In the temporarily occupied Crimea, drones attacked an oil depot near Kozacha Bay in Sevastopol. The strike caused a fire.
On the morning of April 18, drones attacked an oil refinery in the city of Novokuybyshevsk in Russia’s Samara Oblast. The strike caused a fire at the facility.
In the Russian city of Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, explosions were heard on the night of April 16 amid a drone attack. The strikes may have hit the tanks of the Tuapse oil refinery, which belongs to Rosneft.
As a reminder, on the morning of April 15, Ukrainian “Lyuty” strike drones attacked a petrochemical plant in the city of Sterlitamak, located in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian Federation.
As a reminder, in Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan—one of the centers of the Russian Federation’s chemical and petrochemical industries—an attack was recorded on facilities that may be linked to the production of components for military equipment.
Also, last night, the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula came under a massive drone strike.
