Energoatom has released photos of a nuclear storage facility attacked by Russia

The first photos of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone following an overnight airstrike have been released.

Photos of the nuclear infrastructure facility damaged by a Russian drone strike were released by the state-owned company NAEK “Energoatom.”

The released images clearly show the consequences of a direct strike by a Russian kamikaze drone on the container reception building within the CSFSF, which partially destroyed the structure and caused a localized fire covering an area of 40 square meters, which Ukrainian rescue workers quickly extinguished. Despite significant external damage to the infrastructure, there is no threat of radioactive contamination, as no spent nuclear fuel was stored directly in the damaged facility at the time of the attack.

Representatives of the company “Energoatom” officially stated that Russia continues to deliberately engage in blatant nuclear terrorism, posing a direct threat to the safety not only of the Ukrainian population but also of the entire European continent. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reacted strongly to the invaders’ latest despicable strike on a critical facility near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, calling the occupiers’ actions deliberate and emphasizing that the recorded strike is a clear escalation of Russia’s already sky-high audacity, requiring immediate decisive action and increased pressure on the aggressor from the international community.
