Flamingo struck the Roscosmos headquarters and a Russian airfield
On the night of August 15, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck several key targets on Russian territory. Among them were the “Progress” Rocket and Space Center in the Samara Region and the “Savasleika” military airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian “Flamingo” missiles were used in the strike on “Progress.”
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces struck the “Progress” center in the Samara region, which is part of the Russian state corporation “Roscosmos.” The facility, in particular, manufactures electronics. “Today we have new significant results from our precision strikes. In Russia’s Samara region, one of the key facilities within Roscosmos—the ‘Progress’ center, which was involved, in particular, in the production of electronics—has been struck,” Zelenskyy said.
The distance from the Ukrainian border to this facility is about 900 kilometers. The president noted that “Flamingo” missiles were used during the attack.
Strike on “Savasleika”
Another target was the “Savasleika” military airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to Zelenskyy, Russian missile launchers are based there, which are used to strike Ukrainian cities and villages. The airfield is located about 700 kilometers from Ukraine.
The president called these strikes part of Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions” against Russia. “Our plan for ‘long-range sanctions’ against Russia in response to this war is being carried out, and it is important that Russia’s war potential be reduced,” the head of state said.
Damaged Oil Facility
In addition to “Progress” and “Savasleika,” the Ukrainian side reported damage to an oil facility near the town of Ust-Luga. This facility is located more than 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Zelenskyy did not specify the nature of the damage or the extent of the consequences at the oil facility. At the same time, he emphasized that it is important for Ukraine to limit Russia’s ability to continue the war. “Peace is needed, and this must be visible to Russia—through concrete damage to specific facilities,” the president noted.
Thus, in a single night, Ukrainian forces reported striking several targets linked to Russian military and industrial infrastructure. These included a Roscosmos facility, a military airfield housing missile launchers, and an oil facility. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the results of the strikes.
Over the past day, the Russian army lost another 1,370 soldiers in Ukraine. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia’s total personnel losses have already reached approximately 1,465,810 people.
On the front lines over the past day, August 14, there were 233 combat engagements between Ukrainian forces and Russian occupiers. The Russians actively used aircraft and drones: they carried out 71 airstrikes, dropped 241 guided bombs, and launched 10,626 kamikaze drones.
In Samara, Russia, a fire broke out at the “CSKB-Progress” facility following an attack. According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, the plant manufactures medium-class launch vehicles and unmanned space vehicles.
