Russia struck the book market in Kyiv: stores and thousands of books were destroyed by fire

As a result of the Russian Federation’s nighttime attack on Kyiv, a fire broke out at the Petrivka Book Market in the Obolon district.

The fire destroyed several rows of market stalls. Shop owners say they lost all their merchandise. Among the items destroyed were school textbooks, medical books, and other specialized literature.

One of the saleswomen said her store was completely burned down, while another owner’s losses may exceed 1 million hryvnias.

Retail outlets selling clothing, footwear, textiles, and jewelry were also affected. According to the State Emergency Service, three people were injured in the attack on the market.

In Zaporizhzhia, Russian drones caused two fires on the night of August 15. Rescue workers extinguished the fires at a shopping center and a warehouse; no one was injured.

Russian forces carried out 971 strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours. Forty-two settlements came under fire, and two people were injured as a result of attacks on the Zaporizhzhia district. There were also 44 reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure.
