Photos, videos: A university in Kyiv held an outdoor event for students during an emergency alert
Kyiv police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an event held for students at one of the capital’s universities during an air raid alert. The incident in question took place on September 8 in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.
According to the police, at around 11:10 a.m., law enforcement officers received a report that an event involving students was taking place on the university campus while an air raid alert was in effect.
An investigative and operational team from the district police department was dispatched to the scene.
According to preliminary information, a freshman orientation event was taking place in an open area of the university campus.
The police noted that after the air raid alert was sounded, the event was not halted, and participants were not directed to take shelter.

Law enforcement officials have preliminarily determined that an initiation ceremony for first-year students was being held in an open area of the educational institution. However, after the ‘air raid’ siren sounded, the event was not halted, and the students were not directed to take shelter,” the police stated.
Investigators have entered the details of this incident into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—official negligence.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances surrounding the event’s conduct during the air raid alert and identifying those responsible for organizing the event.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that on the eve of the State Duma “elections,” Russia is attempting to paint a picture of calm for its population, in particular by denying preparations for mobilization. At the same time, Moscow is intensifying its airstrikes on Ukraine, ostensibly to demonstrate its “strength” to Russians.
In addition, Russian troops attacked a passenger train in Zaporizhzhia. A railway worker was killed in the strike.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
