At least six people were killed and dozens more were injured as a result of a Russian ballistic missile strike on the Kyiv region. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the consequences of the attack and the cleanup efforts following the shelling.
“A rescue operation is currently underway in the Kyiv region following the Russian missile strike. As of now, dozens of people are known to have been injured. It is also known that, unfortunately, six people have been killed,” the statement reads.
Zelenskyy noted that efforts are underway to clarify all the circumstances of the incident and determine the fate of those involved. All necessary emergency services are on the scene.
“There are also casualties in Sloviansk due to airstrikes. Five people have been killed. My condolences to their families. Nine have been wounded. The Russians damaged ordinary residential buildings, a consulate building, and vehicles.
These are brutal attacks on civilians, for which the Russians must be held accountable. Russia has long since ceased to respect any international norms or human rights. They are interested only in continuing the killings. It is important that our partners also fully understand that the protection of lives depends on them. Missiles for the “Patriots” are the number one priority,” the president concluded.
As a reminder, Russia attacked a military training ground hosting a defense equipment exhibition near Kyiv.
In broad daylight, Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, firing about 10 missiles.
