"Europe's voice must carry weight in negotiations with Russia," Zelenskyy said in a conversation with Macron
During a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need for Europe’s active participation in the diplomatic process aimed at ending Russian aggression.
The Ukrainian leader stressed that the voice of European partners must carry significant weight in achieving a just peace.
Zelenskyy noted the importance of close coordination with key allies to exert effective pressure on the Russian Federation.
Coordinated action will ensure that every step in the diplomatic negotiations is as well-prepared and effective as possible.
“I spoke with the President of France. Emmanuel is fully aware of all the details regarding the current diplomatic prospects. And it is important that every step we take in the negotiations, in applying pressure on Russia, and in bringing peace closer be as well-prepared as possible and coordinated with our key partners,” the President of Ukraine stated.
During the conversation, the heads of state analyzed in detail the current situation on the front lines and key security challenges.
Zelenskyy informed his French counterpart of the aggressor’s intentions to continue terrorizing peaceful cities and villages through regular missile strikes and attacks by strike drones.
Strategies for countering enemy attacks and defending Ukrainian airspace were a separate item on the agenda.
The President of Ukraine expressed hope for strengthened cooperation with France and for receiving substantial assistance to reinforce the air defense system.
“Russia is doing everything it can to continue missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian territory, on our cities and villages. We discussed our options for countering these attacks, protecting lives, and the need for additional air defense systems. We very much hope for France’s support and strong decisions,” Zelenskyy concluded.
