GUR: Russia has up to 120 Zircon missiles in its arsenal
The Russian army currently has up to 120 “Zircon” hypersonic missiles in service. Russia plans to manufacture about 30 more of these missiles in 2026.
According to intelligence reports, the missiles are manufactured by JSC “VPK NPO Mashinostroyenia” in Reutov, near Moscow.
Oleg Chornyi, acting head of one of the departments of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), noted that the massive use of “Zircons” during the attack on June 2 was aimed at striking as many targets as possible, as these missiles are difficult targets for Ukrainian air defense.
According to him, Russia’s increased use of this type of missile will require a greater number of anti-missile systems to intercept them, which Ukraine is receiving from international partners.
