The Main Intelligence Directorate has exposed Russian scientists who are developing technology for war

On September 2, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine released information on Russian scientists and developers involved in military research and development. This refers to representatives of Russian scientific institutes and organizations working on military technologies.

It is noted that in Russia, higher education institutions and research organizations collaborate with the Russian Ministry of Defense and enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex, carrying out work under state programs to develop new types of weapons and related technologies.

Among those collaborating with the Russian military-industrial complex and participating in the development of military and dual-use technologies are:

  • researchers at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), which houses the Center for Artificial Intelligence Technology with a laboratory for special-purpose digital technologies;
  • professors and associate professors at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, which conducts research in the fields of manufacturing turbine blades for aircraft engines, as well as materials and coatings for UAVs;
  • leaders of the Research Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems at the M. E. Zhukovsky, who develop standards for UAVs and oversee research and development work on the use of artificial intelligence in UAV control systems.

Despite this work, most of them continue to collaborate with scientists from other countries, conduct joint research, co-author scientific articles in leading international scientific journals, and attend international events and conferences.

They bring the experience gained from such collaboration back to scientific institutions, where it will subsequently be used not only to develop and modernize weapons but also to build the Russian Federation’s strategic advantage in the modern technological arms race.
