A 15-year-old schoolgirl in Russia was sentenced to 7 years for setting a gas station on fire
The 1st Western District Military Court in St. Petersburg sentenced 15-year-old Saykal Vazirova to seven years in a juvenile correctional facility for setting fire to a “Tatneft” gas station. The girl was found guilty of a terrorist act that caused significant damage.
The arson occurred on February 23—one of the gas station’s pumps was completely burned out. The teenager’s lawyer stated that she committed the crime after receiving threats from telephone scammers. This version of events was also confirmed by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
According to “Mediazona,” the girl came into contact with the scammers through a dating Telegram bot. She shared her geolocation with the person she was chatting with, after which he claimed that her coordinates were allegedly being used to guide drones.
The scammers also threatened the schoolgirl with criminal charges of treason and forced her to cooperate with alleged “FSB representatives.” The girl was convinced that setting fire to the gas station was necessary to expose spies among law enforcement officials.
Despite this, the court did not take into account the circumstances under which the minor committed the arson. Earlier, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the girl had pleaded guilty, after which she was taken into custody.
Earlier, the Russian occupation authorities sentenced a 24-year-old resident of the Donetsk region to 14 years in a strict-regime penal colony for allegedly passing information to Ukrainian intelligence about the location of Russian troops in the Donetsk region.
Previously, two residents of the Kramatorsk district were found guilty of treason and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Andriy Gulak, a 61-year-old resident of the Donetsk region, to 5 years and 4 months in prison. The Russian side accused the man of allegedly participating in a terrorist group due to his service in the “Azov” regiment.
