Ignat explained what prevented them from shooting down more Russian missiles on July 6

Stocks of missiles for air defense systems in Ukraine remain low at this time. This may have been the reason behind the devastating strikes on Kyiv on July 6.

Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ignat said during a televised marathon that intercepting ballistic missiles requires a stockpile of interceptor missiles. According to him, Ukraine has enough Patriot systems, but a steady supply of missiles for them is needed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also highlighted the insufficient supply of interceptor missiles.

“Our soldiers have shown good results today in shooting down drones and cruise missiles, but, unfortunately, not against Russian ballistic missiles. And the reason lies precisely in the insufficient supply of interceptor missiles. It is very important that the world—first and foremost the United States and our European partners—emerge from the NATO summit in Ankara with strong decisions to support our air defense and, consequently, the protection of ordinary people’s lives. As long as the missiles for the “Patriots” remain in our allies’ warehouses, this only encourages Russia to continue “targeting” residential buildings. The U.S. and Europe have enough power to stop this terror,” the president said.

As a reminder, during the morning shelling on July 6, Russian terrorists struck the DAO sorting terminal of the “Nova Poshta” company in Dnipro. The strike caused a fire on the premises, which rescue workers quickly extinguished.

Earlier, Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a new massive strike.

So far, 11 deaths have been reported in Kyiv, and July 7 has been declared a day of mourning in the capital.

The Russians last launched a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of July 2. At that time, Russian forces launched 496 UAVs of various types and 74 missiles—air-, ground-, and sea-based—of various types at Ukraine.
