ISW refuted Russia's claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were surrounded near Kharkiv
Russian officials and military bloggers have claimed that Ukrainian forces have allegedly been surrounded on a large scale northeast of Kharkiv. At the same time, ISW analysts have found no evidence to support these claims.
What Russia Is Claiming
Russian officials and military bloggers continue to claim that the Russian army has surrounded Ukrainian units between Vovchansk and Velykyi Burluk.
Military bloggers are repeating these claims and going even further—they write that Russian troops have allegedly surrounded a large number of Ukrainian soldiers northeast of Kharkiv.
What ISW Analysts Say
The Institute for the Study of War noted that there is no evidence of Ukrainian units being surrounded in this area.
Therefore, analysts continue to assess the situation as follows: Russian forces have not surrounded any Ukrainian troops on this section of the front.
