Italy condemned the Russian strike on Kherson, which destroyed the former consulate

Italy condemned the Russian attack on Kherson, which resulted in casualties and caused serious damage to the historic building that formerly housed the Consulate of the Kingdom of Italy. Officials in Rome emphasized that Russia’s strikes on civilian targets and Ukraine’s cultural heritage are unacceptable.

The statement was published by the Italian Embassy in Ukraine.

The embassy noted that the Russian shelling of Kherson this morning resulted in one fatality, two people seriously injured, and damage to the historic building that housed the Italian consulate from 1906 to 1918.

Ambassador Carlo Formosa expressed his condolences regarding the consequences of the shelling and emphasized that Italy condemns Russia’s actions, which daily result in civilian deaths and cause the destruction of cultural heritage.

“This valuable building was hit and caught fire. It is not only a testament to early 20th-century Art Nouveau but also a symbol of the long-standing friendship between Italy and Ukraine… We continue to support Ukraine in its pursuit of a just and lasting peace,” the ambassador said.

As a reminder, a Russian strike destroyed the historic building of the former Italian consulate in Kherson.

On the morning of July 25, Russian forces launched a strike with guided aerial bombs on Zaporizhzhia. A woman was killed in the attack, and several other people were injured. Rescue and emergency services are working at the scene, and details regarding the consequences of the shelling are being clarified.

Police body cameras captured the first moments after the Russian strike on Pavlohrad.

Russia attacked the Odesa region: dozens of buildings were damaged, and one person was injured.
