The former head of the SBU's "Alpha" Center was killed in a Russian strike on a drone exhibition
It was reported today that on July 24, Eduard Sirenko, the former head of the “Alpha” Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, was killed in a Russian terrorist attack on a drone exhibition in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region. The death of the intelligence veteran has been reported by military officials and journalists on social media.
Serhiy Bondarchuk, the former head of “Ukrspetsexport” and a former employee of the SBU’s “Alpha” Center, was among the first to report on the tragic incident.
In addition, journalist Stanislav Rechynskyi confirmed Sirenko’s death. Within a few hours, his post received nearly 600 condolence comments. Among others, former commander of the small-scale air defense forces Pavlo Yelizarov, military officer Yuriy Kasyanov, and others reacted to the tragic event.
For his part, Bondarchuk noted that the man died at the training ground. “R.I.P. A close friend died today at the training ground in question. My condolences to his family. Edik was a bright person,” the post reads.
As a reminder, on July 25, law enforcement officials announced that they had charged the main organizer of the defense products exhibition—which Russia targeted near Kyiv—with official negligence, an act that, according to the investigation, led to serious consequences.
During the defense technology forum in the Kyiv region, which came under Russian attack, more than 300 participants were in an open area. The available shelter space totaled only 34 square meters, which was insufficient for the number of people present.
July 25 was declared a Day of Mourning in the Kyiv region for those killed in the Russian missile strike that occurred on July 24.
