Kadyrov in coma — Kremlin considers new head of Chechnya
The leader of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, is reportedly facing serious health problems, according to sources from the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence.
This was reported by Ukrinform.
It is said that he is suffering from kidney failure and is currently in his private hospital in Chechnya under intensive medical supervision.
Members of his family clan, including relatives from other countries, have arrived at the clinic where Kadyrov is being treated, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
According to sources in Ukrainian intelligence speaking to Ukrinform, Russian security agencies have already begun the process of identifying a possible successor to Kadyrov.
Sources say the activity around this process indicates that Moscow is preparing for a potential change of leadership in Chechnya.
The Kremlin is reportedly trying to avoid chaos in the event of Kadyrov’s death or prolonged incapacitation, as his personal loyalty and tight control over the region are important to Russian authorities.
Currently, several figures close to the current leader are considered the most likely candidates for the position of Head of the Chechen Republic. These include Chechnya’s parliamentary speaker Magomed Daudov, commander of the “Akhmat” special unit Apti Alaudinov, and Kadyrov’s eldest son.
Each has their own influence within the region’s security structures, but the final decision, traditionally, will rest with the Kremlin.
