Kyiv bids farewell to street musician and defender Denys Opara
Today, July 2, a memorial service will be held in the capital for the well-known street musician and blogger Denys Opara, known to Kyiv residents as “Denchik.”
His life was cut short at the age of 30, and the preliminary cause of death was bilateral pneumonia.
Denis Opara gained widespread popularity thanks to his impromptu performances on Khreshchatyk.
His heartfelt singing and open interaction with passersby garnered thousands of views on social media, making him a favorite of the capital’s public.
In February of this year, the musician made the resolute decision to trade his microphone for a weapon, joining the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He stood up to defend his country, despite his artistic career and popularity in civilian life.
The farewell ceremony for the defender will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the morgue located at 16 Konovaltsia Street.
At 2:15 p.m. on Independence Square, on the Alley of Heroes, there will be a minute of silence in memory of Denys Opara.
