Russian forces attacked a locomotive at the Yagodin station in the Volyn region. At that moment, another train carrying former CIA Director David Petraeus was at the station.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, a Russian jet-powered drone struck the locomotive. A dispatcher from the Central Monitoring Group detected the drone in advance, after which passengers and staff were urgently evacuated. The warning to leave the train was issued approximately 15 minutes before the strike.

Thanks to this, there were no fatalities or injuries among passengers or railway workers.

Shortly before the attack, a diplomatic train was at the station, carrying security advisers from several EU countries and European politicians, including former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

At the same time, during the actual strike, Petraeus was on a neighboring train. Ukrzaliznytsia speculated that the Russian drone may have been targeting the diplomatic train specifically.

Due to the security situation, the diplomatic train departed the station earlier than scheduled. Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes that it adjusts routes and schedules in real time depending on current threats.
