Kyiv CHPP-4 has been destroyed, and CHPP-6 has been 80% damaged due to Russian shelling

Due to heavy shelling by Russian occupiers, the capital’s thermal power plants have sustained significant damage. In particular, Thermal Power Plant No. 6 has been 80% damaged, and Thermal Power Plant No. 4 has been completely destroyed.

This was reported on ICTV by Maksym Bakhmatov, head of the Desnianskyi District State Administration.

He noted that CHP-4 (Darnitsa CHP) supplies heat to the Dniprovskyi and Darnitsa districts, while CHP-6 supplies the Desnianskyi, Obolonskyi, Dniprovskyi, and part of the Darnitsa districts. Due to significant damage, over a thousand Kyiv homes have been left without heat until the end of the heating season.

The head of the Regional State Administration emphasized that the Russian side could repeat strikes on the capital’s thermal power plants. “Kyiv’s thermal power plants are a prime target for Putin. He has the missiles. He will continue to strike the thermal power plants, and he will destroy them. Even if we pour in five billion, he’ll say, ‘Well done,’ and pour in more,” said Maksym Bakhmatov.

As a reminder, on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal visited one of the capital’s thermal power plants along with a delegation of high-ranking foreign guests.
