A Colombian volunteer with the 47th Brigade held his position in the Sumy region for over 110 days
Jaime, a volunteer from Colombia with the call sign “Tornado,” who is fighting as part of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura,” has been defending a combat position in the Sumy region continuously for over 110 days.
This was reported by the International Legion of Defense of Ukraine. Despite constant assaults by Russian occupiers, the foreign defender, together with his partner, managed to complete the assigned combat mission.
Before arriving in Ukraine, the man had no recent military experience, as he had served in the Colombian army over 20 years ago, and in civilian life worked as a window installer. After enlisting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he underwent an intensive 20-day training course, where he mastered various types of small arms, grenade launchers, and modern anti-drone systems.
The soldier cites the round-the-clock threat from enemy drones of various types as the greatest challenge on the front lines. Jaime noted that Russian soldiers are not invincible; they come to Ukrainian soil to do evil, and therefore must be destroyed. Despite the immense physical and psychological exhaustion following a superhuman ordeal at the front lines, the Colombian plans to undergo full recovery and return to the front lines.
As a reminder, the “RUG” unit, part of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura,” includes about 2,000 Colombian citizens.
A volunteer from Colombia, who had been fighting Russian aggression in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since December 2022, was killed in the war in Ukraine.
