Koretsky Held an Emergency Meeting Due to an Escalation in Russian Attacks on Gas Stations
On September 12, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky convened an emergency meeting with petroleum product market operators. Representatives from relevant ministries, law enforcement officials, and emergency responders attended the meeting, where they discussed the intensification of Russian attacks on gas stations.
“The enemy has significantly intensified its attacks on gas stations. In recent days, attacks have targeted gas stations in the capital and along international highways. The top priority is to ensure the maximum safety of staff and customers and to guarantee the systematic and safe distribution of petroleum products from gas stations,” Koretskyi noted.
At the meeting, attended by market operators, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the National Security and Defense Council, the State Emergency Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, participants discussed strengthening security measures at gas stations, progress in installing additional protective structures for ground infrastructure, and the construction of shelters.
“We are already testing software that will allow us to track the movement of drones and respond to threats in advance. This involves automatic and prompt alerts at gas stations regarding the approach of hostile drones. We will test this at gas stations—while simultaneously integrating other businesses into the system. The ministers were tasked with accelerating this process as much as possible,” Koretsky emphasized.
The meeting also analyzed the balance of petroleum products, logistics, and the pricing situation. According to the prime minister, due to events in the Middle East and disruptions in supply chains, global oil prices are once again rising rapidly. It is evident that market players in Ukraine are responding accordingly.
“We have outlined a clear plan of action regarding both rail transport and the simplification of customs procedures for fuel tankers, as was done in 2022. We are responding to requests from the business community—the response must be swift and effective. During this crisis, we will coordinate our actions with the business community on a regular basis,” Koretsky emphasized.

Kyiv has begun stockpiling food and drinking water in preparation for prolonged power outages and other emergencies. The city aims to prepare reserves in advance that can be used at resilience centers and to assist residents in the event of large-scale disruptions.
A new air threat warning system went into operation in Kyiv on September 6. Now, city residents will receive notifications not only about the fact that a threat exists, but also about its type—drone, missile, or a combination of both.
