The decision was made following another large-scale attack by Russia, which caused destruction and casualties in the capital. “A Day of Mourning has been declared in Kropyvnytskyi on Friday, May 15, as a sign of grief for those who died in Kyiv,” the statement reads.
The city council noted that the day of mourning was declared due to the consequences of a massive combined strike by Russian forces on the capital on the night of May 14. The attack resulted in significant destruction and loss of life.
On the day of mourning in Kropyvnytskyi, the Ukrainian national flag, the city’s official flag, and the red-and-black flag will be flown at half-mast near the city council building. The city may also restrict entertainment events and change the format of public gatherings.
