Lavrov said that Russia will await new proposals regarding the negotiations
Moscow is prepared to await new proposals on resuming the negotiation process with Ukraine. At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that he has no “grand illusions” about a possible resumption of the dialogue.
Lavrov made these remarks during the International Youth Festival, commenting on previous attempts to organize negotiations.
According to him, all negotiation processes—from the Belarusian-Turkish meetings in 2022 to subsequent contacts in Geneva and Abu Dhabi—were allegedly suspended not at Moscow’s initiative. At the same time, Lavrov did not provide any additional details regarding the possible conditions or format of future negotiations.
The Russian foreign minister stated that Moscow would await proposals on resuming negotiations, but added that “we don’t have any grand illusions.”

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has not yet made a decision regarding his participation in the G20 summit and, accordingly, regarding a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As a reminder, Zelenskyy effectively proposed to the Kremlin leader that they hold a face-to-face meeting during the G20 summit in December 2026.
U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet decided whether to invite Russia to the G20 summit, which will take place on December 14–15, 2026, in Miami.
