Lukashenko called the attack on a bus in the Bryansk region a provocation by Ukraine
Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, claimed that a bus carrying a children’s soccer team from Belarus in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast was allegedly attacked by a drone of “Ukrainian origin.” He called the incident a possible provocation, which, he said, may be intended to drag Belarus into the war.
According to Lukashenko, the Belarusian side expects an “honest and objective response” from Ukrainian officials and the military.
He also stated: “We are in no hurry to draw any conclusions, but we clearly state the fact that this is a drone of Ukrainian origin. This is a Ukrainian drone.”
Lukashenko emphasized that information about the incident is contradictory, but he insists on his version of events, claiming that there are allegedly various accounts, including reports of the presence of several drones.
At the same time, Kyiv had previously refuted such accusations. Representatives of the Ukrainian side stated that no strikes were carried out on the Bryansk region at the time in question. The Center for Countering Disinformation also called the information about an “attack on a bus carrying children” a fabricated Russian propaganda narrative.
Earlier, the acting governor of the Bryansk region claimed that a Ukrainian drone had allegedly attacked a bus carrying Belarusian children who were on their way to Gelendzhik for a vacation. Following this, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry issued a statement supporting the Russian version of events and lodged a complaint against Ukraine.
Belarus promised to hold accountable anyone who may have been involved in the attack on the bus carrying a children’s soccer team in the Bryansk region.
Earlier, partisans from the “ATESH” movement carried out a successful sabotage operation behind enemy lines in Russia’s Bryansk region, disrupting the Russian military’s logistics.
