Madyar warned Ukrainians of an escalation in Russian terror
Robert Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, urged Ukrainians to remain vigilant around the clock amid the threat of new Russian strikes. On August 20, he stated that Russia may be escalating its strategy of attacks on the civilian population and urged people to have a proven plan of action in place in advance in the event of airstrikes.
Madyar noted that between Ukrainians and Russians there is “not a doctrinal chasm, but a civilizational one”:
“From personal agency and values all the way to attitudes toward human life,” he wrote, wishing civilians resilience and composure and emphasizing that “difficult trials lie ahead.”
According to Brovdi, the defense forces are pushing the war back to where it came from—to Russia—by striking targets that finance and sustain the Kremlin’s war machine. In response, the commander noted, the occupiers are waging a campaign of mass terror against Ukraine’s civilian population, resulting in the deaths of innocent people—and Russia will only intensify this strategy of “punishing civilians.”
He urged Ukrainians to remain vigilant and composed around the clock rather than consuming emotional content and fake news, and to have a personally verified plan of action in case of an air raid alert or strike.
“May you have nerves of steel and an unyielding spirit. Take care of yourselves and those around you,” Brovdi wrote, assuring that the Unmanned Systems Forces are relentlessly continuing to “return the pain to the enemy.” According to him, this is not a sprint but a marathon with significant obstacles—a “fateful test of endurance.”
The commander published his message even though, just a few days earlier, he had planned a week-long break from social media—he managed to last only four days.

Earlier, Russia dropped nine aerial bombs on Kramatorsk.
The Russian nighttime attack was one of the most cynical and large-scale strikes against Ukraine, said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, near the “Auchan” hypermarket on Zdolbunivska Street, a dangerous object was discovered which, according to preliminary data, may be a cluster munition from an X-101 missile.
