A large-scale drone attack caused explosions in three regions of Russia
On the night of May 12, the territory of the Russian Federation came under a massive drone attack, with targets in the Belgorod, Voronezh, and Rostov regions coming under fire.
The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country reported that air defense systems were activated and that 27 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles were allegedly shot down.
According to the Russian ministry’s official report, the combat operations lasted throughout the night—from midnight to 7 a.m. Moscow time.
Local authorities in Russian regions are trying to reassure the public, reporting that there was no damage on the ground.
Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev reported that five drones were allegedly shot down over his region, and that “there were no casualties or damage.”
Yuri Slyusar, the head of the Rostov region, is using similar rhetoric.
He confirmed the attack in the Millerovo District but reported only one downed UAV and, as usual, added that “there were no casualties or damage,” despite reports in local social media groups of loud explosions.
