The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had destroyed 272 Ukrainian drones overnight
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that overnight, air defense forces allegedly shot down 272 Ukrainian drones over various regions of the country and the occupied territories.
According to the Russian military, the drones were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, and Tambov regions of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported air defense operations over the temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.
If the data provided by the Russian side is accurate, this represents one of the largest drone attacks on Russian territory and occupied Crimea in recent months.
At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry did not provide detailed information regarding possible damage to infrastructure, the consequences of falling debris, or the number of drones that may have reached their targets.
At the time of publication, the Ukrainian side had not commented on the Russian Ministry of Defense’s statement regarding the number of allegedly shot-down drones.
Traditionally, Russian military reports on the scale of attacks and the results of air defense operations lack independent verification, so the figures cited require further verification.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the drones were shot down over ten Russian regions, the occupied Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.
