Russian soldiers are deserting en masse in the Belgorod region
At least 13 Russian soldiers have abandoned their positions in the Kharkiv sector over the past two days. Among them are nine former prisoners who, according to media reports, were being trained for assault operations. Some of the deserters have already been detained, while others are still being sought.
Over the course of two days, at least 13 soldiers fled Russian army units in the Kharkiv sector. This was reported by the local Russian publication “Popil Belgorod,” citing its own sources. According to journalists, on June 27, nine former prisoners fled a military unit in the Belgorod region. It is claimed that all of them were to be sent shortly to participate in assault operations in the Kharkiv direction.
The publication notes that following the escape, a manhunt for the men began in the Belgorod and Kursk regions. Preliminary reports indicate that they were unarmed.
Most of the fugitives had lived in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region prior to their incarceration. According to journalists, they may all have been recruited into the army at the same correctional colony. The very next day, June 28, according to the publication, four more Russian soldiers abandoned their positions near the village of Melove in the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region, not far from the border with the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
They are Dmytro Bushan, Serhiy Golikov, Volodymyr Yandakov, and Dmytro Skrypka. Thus, in just two days, at least 13 Russian soldiers deserted from units in the Kharkiv sector. Meanwhile, two of them—Vladimir Yandakov and Dmitry Skrypka—were detained in Belgorod on June 29. According to the publication, they had managed to rent an apartment in the city, where law enforcement officers found them.
There is currently no information regarding the detention of the other deserters. Russian authorities have not officially commented on these reports. There is also no independent confirmation of this information at this time. For this reason, the data presented should be viewed with the understanding that it is based on a report from a local Russian publication.
