A man who was passing on the coordinates of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to Russia was detained in the Dnipropetrovsk region

A 25-year-old resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region is suspected of treason—according to the investigation, he used Telegram to pass information about the positions of Ukrainian troops and military equipment to Russian intelligence agencies. To maintain secrecy, he used his 10-year-old nephew’s phone.

This is stated in an official report from the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Hiding behind a child’s phone and passing the coordinates of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the enemy: a suspect in treason has been detained

Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 25-year-old resident of the region was detained who, according to the investigation, transmitted the coordinates of Ukrainian troops and military equipment to Russian intelligence services for strikes on the frontline region of Synelnykivka.

In late 2025, the man himself contacted a representative of the Russian Federation via a Telegram bot and voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the enemy. He gathered information for Russian special services on the deployment locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, the positioning of HIMARS rocket systems, troop movements, as well as details regarding command meetings.

The suspect sent the coordinates in the form of screenshots from Google Maps with geolocations and markings for strikes.

To maintain secrecy, he used his 10-year-old nephew’s phone. Through it, he communicated with his handler, received assignments, and transmitted coordinates.

After the data was transmitted, Russian forces attacked the specified area with “Shahed” drones. The attack damaged civilian infrastructure, including a residential building.

After the strike, the man also reported the consequences of the attack to his handler so that the enemy could adjust future shelling.

He has been notified of suspicion of treason committed under martial law. At the prosecutor’s request, the court imposed a preventive measure on him—detention without the right to bail.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

As a reminder, a soldier was killed in Uzhhorod for $3,000, and a suspect in treason has been detained.

Earlier, the Rivne District Court partially granted the claim of soldier Dmytro Panchuk, who demanded the return of funds accumulated during his three years in captivity.

In the Cherkasy region, a former bank employee was exposed for embezzling over 1 million hryvnias from the account of the grandmother of a deceased soldier.
