Thirteen collaborators are to stand trial in the Kharkiv region
Prosecutors from the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have filed an indictment against 13 individuals implicated in the mass abductions, brutal torture, and murders of civilians during the occupation of the city of Izyum in 2022.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The members of the criminal group who will face trial include 11 servicemen of the illegal armed group “LPR” controlled by the Russian Federation, a deputy of the so-called “LPR,” and the head of the “DPR Union of Cinematographers.”
All suspects are currently wanted, so they will be tried in absentia.
According to the investigation, during the occupation of the Izyum district, the defendants unleashed a reign of terror.
They kidnapped local residents, illegally detained them in basements, systematically beat them, staged mock executions, and threatened to harm their families.
In this way, the militants attempted to extract information about Ukrainian military personnel, ATO/JFO veterans, and patriotic citizens who were assisting the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The collaborators recorded their abuse of defenseless civilians on video cameras. These recordings were later passed on to Russian media and used to create fake propaganda stories about the so-called “fight against the Banderites.”
One of the most horrific episodes in the case involves the brutal murder of a 46-year-old local resident—a member of the Plast youth organization and an assistant to a member of the Izyum City Council.
After his arrest, the man was subjected to brutal torture and beatings, after which the occupiers killed him. The invaders simply dumped the body of the slain patriot near a railroad crossing.
Court extends Gusakov’s house arrest in fraud case
Earlier, journalist Olga Khudetska stated that activist Nazarii Gusakov, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), demanded donations from wounded soldiers and “traded on his connections.”
The Office of the Prosecutor General will soon announce charges in absentia against Nazarii Gusakov, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The activist faces charges of fraud during a fundraising campaign for his treatment.
