The mandatory evacuation zone in the Kherson region has been expanded due to intensified shelling
In the Kherson region, the list of settlements subject to mandatory evacuation has been expanded due to the deteriorating security situation and intensified Russian shelling.
This was announced on July 17 by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, following a meeting of the Regional Defense Council. According to him, the decision was made after analyzing the situation in the Kherson, Novovorontsov, and Beryslav communities, which are subjected to daily Russian attacks.
The list of areas subject to mandatory evacuation now includes settlements in the Khreshchenivskyi Starosta District, the village of Charivne, the town of Zelenivka, as well as the “Tekstilnyi” neighborhood and certain streets in the Central, Korabelny, and Dniprovsky districts of Kherson—specifically Universytetska, Teatralna, Biloruska, and Komunalna streets—as well as streets and alleys located in the direction of the Koshova and Dnipro rivers.
In addition, a ban on entry for families with children will be imposed in these areas due to the threat to their lives.
During the meeting, the purchase of mobile shelters—to be installed along the most dangerous sections of roads—was also approved, as well as protective measures for critical infrastructure. Furthermore, the region plans to repair a shelter at one of its educational institutions and upgrade equipment at a hospital.
The Defense Council also authorized the procurement of logistical supplies for the needs of the Defense Forces.
Separately, meeting participants discussed the safety of commuter rail services. Due to the threat of shelling, they plan to change public transportation routes and schedules and shorten some routes.
Authorities also addressed the issue of ensuring the safe operation of gas stations amid sustained attacks by Russian drones and rocket fire.
Prokudin announced this on July 17 following the meeting of the Regional Defense Council.
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a new resolution establishing a clear procedure for the mandatory evacuation of children from areas where hostilities are ongoing or may begin. The document also outlines the procedure for evacuating minors in cases where they are unaccompanied by parents or legal guardians.
In Vyshneve, entire streets have been destroyed following an attack by the Russian Federation, and the evacuation of residents is ongoing.
