The occupiers have intensified their attacks in the Kupiansk area
Russian troops have stepped up their activity in the Kupiansk sector. According to Viktor Tregubov, a spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, the main pressure is currently directed at the Ukrainian bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Oskol River, where the Russians have been trying to break through for quite some time. At the same time, the occupiers are periodically intensifying their attempts to advance in the Kupiansk area itself.
Russian military activity has increased again in the Kupiansk sector. Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, reported this during a televised marathon. According to him, the intensity of fighting in this sector may fluctuate. In some areas, the Russians temporarily ease the pressure, only to intensify their efforts in others. “Activity has increased again, but it’s following a sinusoidal pattern for us,” Tregubov explained.
The Russian troops are currently focusing their efforts on the Ukrainian bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Oskil River. The Russians are attempting to break through the territory held by Ukrainian forces and create conditions for further advancement. Tregubov noted that the occupiers have long been trying to overcome this section of the defense line. They are also attempting to advance through the central part of the territory toward Vuzlovoye.
“Where the enemy has been trying to break through for a long time, where the enemy is actively trying to advance through the center of the territory held by the Ukrainians, toward the Ukrainian town of Vuzlovoye,” the spokesperson said.
The Russians are trying to penetrate Kupiansk
Separately, Russian forces are periodically stepping up their activity north of Kupiansk. This area is located on the western bank of the Oskol River. There, the occupiers are attempting to move closer to the city in small groups. These are infiltration attempts, in which military groups try to move unnoticed through Ukrainian positions and establish a foothold in new areas.
According to Tregubov, this activity is not constant. The Russians may ease pressure in this area for a time and then resume their attempts to advance. At the same time, the situation directly in Kupiansk and on its western bank is somewhat simpler for Ukrainian forces than on the eastern bank of the Oskol River.
Why the eastern bank is more challenging
Logistics remains one of the main challenges for Ukrainian forces on the eastern bank of the Oskol River. Supplying and moving units in this area is complicated by combat operations and the geographical location. In addition, Russian forces are advancing from several directions at once. This puts additional pressure on Ukrainian positions and forces defenders to account for threats from all sides. “In the city itself and on the west bank, it’s a little easier; on the east bank, it’s a little more difficult due to logistical challenges and the fact that the Russians are advancing from several directions at once,” said Tregubov.
Thus, Russian troops continue to put pressure on Ukrainian positions near Oskol and are looking for opportunities to advance. At the same time, they are trying to strengthen their presence near Kupiansk. The spokesperson emphasized, however, that Russian troop activity along these fronts may fluctuate. The intensification of attacks on the Kupiansk sector is taking place against the backdrop of fluctuating intensity of hostilities in the neighboring South Slobozhansky sector as well. This was reported on Tuesday during a televised broadcast by Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation.
As a reminder, Russia attacked warehouses and energy infrastructure in the Odesa region.
Earlier, drones attacked Ozon logistics centers in two regions of Russia at once.
Drones also struck Krasnodar, causing a fire at a warehouse.
Earlier, warehouses caught fire in Akulovo, near Moscow.
