A man was killed and another was wounded in the Kherson region as a result of Russian shelling
In the Kherson region, Russian shelling once again struck civilian settlements, killing a 70-year-old man and injuring one other person. The enemy used artillery, mortars, and drones, and the shells struck residential areas directly. Law enforcement officials have already opened an investigation into these war crimes.
The Kherson region once again endured a day marked by the sounds of explosions and a constant threat from the sky, as the Russian army opened fire on towns and villages with various types of weapons, making no distinction between military and civilian targets, and this is precisely what led to new casualties among civilians. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, on June 18, 2026, the occupiers fired artillery, mortars, and drones, which were repeatedly spotted over residential neighborhoods and private homes.
In Kherson, a 70-year-old man was killed after being struck by a munition dropped by the enemy from a drone; he found himself in the blast zone with no chance of survival. Another man was wounded in the village of Bilozerka under similar circumstances, when shelling struck residential areas and nearby streets. “According to the investigation, on June 18, 2026, the Russian army shelled settlements in the Kherson region with artillery, mortars, and various types of drones,” the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office stated.
In addition to the loss of life, the explosions damaged private homes, leaving behind shattered roofs, broken windows, and destroyed yards—places where people were still living their normal lives just yesterday. Law enforcement agencies have already launched a pre-trial investigation into war crimes, documenting each strike as part of yet another episode of Russian aggression against the region’s civilian population. This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office on Telegram.
Since the start of the day, Russian troops have carried out 55 attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The most tense situation is observed in the Pokrovsk, Huliaipole, and Kostiantynivka sectors.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb suggested that hostilities in Ukraine could continue for at least another three to four months.
