In southern Ukraine, the Varyag special brigade—part of Putin’s reserve forces—is fighting against the Ukrainian Armed Forces

In the operational zone of the Southern Defense Forces, activities have been detected by a special-purpose enemy brigade from the reserve of the Russian Federation’s Supreme Commander-in-Chief, known as “Varyag,” which has ample resources and employs the latest experimental drone designs.

In particular, the unit is using fiber-optic drones with reels capable of striking targets at distances of up to 30 kilometers. This was reported by Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.

In total, over the past day, 33 combat engagements took place in the southern sectors, with the most intense fighting occurring in the Huliaipole sector, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 22 attacks by the occupiers. Additionally, five enemy attempts to advance were halted in the Oleksandrivka and Orikhiv sectors, while one assault toward the Antonivka road bridge was recorded in the Dnipro sector. In addition to these assaults, the invaders carried out massive shelling of Ukrainian positions, deploying over 2,200 kamikaze drones, 63 guided aerial bombs, and more than 1,500 artillery rounds.

The highest level of activity by Russian occupation forces was recorded in the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole sectors, where the invaders carried out 24 and 18 assaults, respectively. Currently, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy’s advance, repelling most attacks and holding their defensive lines.

The Russian army’s total combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have exceeded 1.385 million personnel.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have significantly intensified strikes against Russian logistics along the so-called “land corridor” to Crimea. Since May, at least 375 attacks on trucks, fuel tankers, and other occupiers’ vehicles have been recorded.
