In the Sumy region, two civilians were killed by debris from a downed drone
In the Putivl community of Sumy Oblast, two local residents were killed when an explosive device detonated; the device was found among the wreckage of a downed enemy drone.
This was reported by Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
The tragedy occurred in the morning when the men attempted to move the dangerous object on their own. The deadly device detonated during transport, leaving the victims with no chance of survival.
The men, aged 45 and 47, discovered parts of a downed unmanned aerial vehicle and decided to load them into their own car.
Among the debris was an explosive device that detonated during transport. As a result of the powerful explosion, both civilians sustained severe, life-threatening injuries.
Military authorities and emergency services regularly emphasize that weapon remnants pose a deadly threat.
Modern drones and missiles are often equipped with warheads featuring self-destruct timers or sensitive detonators.
Rescue workers once again urge the public: if you find any suspicious objects, do not touch them, do not move them, and immediately notify the police or the State Emergency Service. Even visually damaged munitions remain unpredictable.
Any attempt to take such objects for scrap metal or as a souvenir leads to irreparable disaster.
