In the Sumy region, a system for promptly alerting the public via loudspeakers is being implemented due to a sharp increase in Russian strikes using guided aerial bombs (KABs).
According to Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, while KAB strikes on Sumy were isolated incidents at the beginning of the year, Russian forces carried out 29 such strikes on the regional capital in June, and 16 since the beginning of July.
Grigorov noted that four civilians were killed as a result of a Russian attack on the evening of July 3.
“Forty victims have already sought medical attention, including nine children. Four people are in serious condition, and one child is being treated at the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital. We are in constant contact with medical professionals so that we can quickly step in to help all those affected,” the head of the Regional State Administration noted.
He also reported that regional authorities are strengthening security measures and improving the system for informing the public about aerial threats. In particular, the region has introduced a system for promptly alerting residents via loudspeakers about approaching guided bombs. According to the authorities’ plan, this will allow residents to receive warnings as quickly as possible and have time to take shelter.
