Five forest fires broke out in the Zhytomyr region following a drone attack
As a result of an enemy drone attack over the weekend, five forest fires broke out in four forest districts of Zhytomyr Oblast.
The fires occurred within the territories managed by branches of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.”
The fire engulfed forest areas in the Korosten, Korostyshiv, Baranivka, and Zviahel forest districts, with the total area affected by the forest fires exceeding 3 hectares.
Extinguishing the fires was significantly complicated by unfavorable weather conditions, particularly hot weather and strong gusty winds. Due to these factors, the fire spread through the forest areas very quickly.

Forest rangers had to work under extremely difficult and dangerous conditions, which were exacerbated by the high risk of unexploded enemy ordnance detonating.
Significant human resources and a large amount of specialized equipment were deployed to combat the wildfires.
Eight fire trucks, three firefighting modules, five tractors, and more than 40 state forest protection employees were actively working at the emergency sites.

Thanks to the coordinated and professional actions of the teams, most of the fires were completely extinguished and contained by Sunday evening.
While performing their duties, one of the forest protection patrol teams observed peculiarities in the enemy’s aerial reconnaissance and strikes.
Specialists noted that enemy drones were flying very low—at an altitude of approximately 40 meters above the ground.
This flight path of the unmanned aerial vehicles posed a serious additional danger to personnel and made them more difficult to detect.
This was reported by the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.”
