Did not detonate on impact — Russian Kh-101 missile warhead neutralized in Kirovohrad region

In Kirovohrad Oblast, police bomb disposal experts safely neutralized the warhead of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile, fragments of which had fallen near a local settlement.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.

The incident occurred during another massive missile strike on Ukraine, when Russian forces used missiles with high-explosive fragmentation warheads.

Local residents reported the falling debris, prompting a rapid response from law enforcement and bomb disposal specialists. During the site inspection, experts discovered an intact missile warhead weighing about 400 kilograms that, despite hitting the ground, had not detonated.

Such a munition posed a serious threat to people and nearby infrastructure, as an uncontrolled explosion could have caused significant destruction. The police immediately cordoned off the area and restricted civilian access to prevent any accidents.

Bomb disposal specialists conducted a detailed examination of the warhead, assessed the condition of the explosive material, and calculated the safe radius of potential impact. After preparation, they decided to destroy the hazardous element through a controlled detonation. Specialized equipment and techniques were used to safely initiate the explosion while minimizing risks to people and the environment.
