Occupiers are laying mines along supply routes near Chasovoy Yar and deploying "Zhdu" drones — 24th Mechanized Brigade

In the Chasovoy Yar area of Donetsk Oblast, Russian occupation forces are actively laying mines along the logistics routes of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and deploying “loitering” drones, as well as various types of mines, to hinder the movement of Ukrainian units.

This was reported on May 22 during a broadcast of “Suspilne Studio” by Konstantin Melnikov, press officer of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo.

According to him, the enemy is attempting to disrupt or completely block Ukrainian logistics in the areas of Chasovy Yar and Kostiantynivka, using both remote mining and drones that drop explosive devices on roads.

These are so-called “loitering” drones, which can remain on roads in standby mode for extended periods and detonate when vehicles approach. There have also been reports of explosive devices, including magnetic mines, being dropped from drones.

The military is forced to constantly check routes before moving, using aerial reconnaissance and other surveillance methods. Upon detecting such threats, units attempt to destroy “loitering” drones or engage them with FPV drones to ensure the passability of logistics routes.

According to Melnikov, Russian troops also continue to pressure the positions of the Defense Forces with infantry assault groups, attempting to gradually wear down the Ukrainian defense.

He added that units of the 24th Mechanized Brigade have been holding the line in this area for nearly two years, despite constant pressure and changes in the enemy’s tactics.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have successfully driven Russian occupation forces out of the village of Mala Tokmachka in the Polohivsky District of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
