The occupiers unveiled a new version of the “Solntsepyok” on the front line: what makes it dangerous
Russian forces have presented a new version of the “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower system on the battlefield, featuring enhanced protection and extended firing range.
According to DEFENSE EXPRESS, the modernized variant — likely the TOS-3 Dragon — is equipped with a new launcher carrying 15 guide tubes and is capable of striking targets at a range of 15–24 km. This makes it more effective in combat conditions where drones are widely used.
The previous version, TOS-1A Solntsepyok, has been actively used by Russian forces during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The updated design reportedly includes additional screens and protective elements, increasing its resilience against enemy strikes.
Published footage indicates that the system has already been spotted in combat use, underscoring its operational readiness. In response to evolving threats, Ukraine is expected to receive additional support from international partners, including £150 million from the United Kingdom for the procurement of American weapons. This highlights the need to strengthen defense capabilities and adapt to new battlefield challenges.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces in eastern Ukraine near Lyman destroyed an important Russian multiple launch rocket system. On the Prydniprovske axis, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled an attempted enemy landing on Kruhlyk Island.
Previously, FPV drone operators of the 79th Separate Air Assault Tavriia Brigade eliminated a vehicle carrying Russian troops in the central part of Myrnohrad.
It is worth recalling that over the past day, Ukrainian defenders eliminated more than 800 occupiers.
