Air Defence Neutralises 194 Enemy Drones During Record Attack on Ukraine

On the night of 16 March and throughout the morning, Ukrainian territory came under a massive aerial assault involving 211 strike UAVs of various types.

According to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy used not only the usual Shahed drones but also Gerber, Italmas, and other advanced drone models.

A notable feature of today’s attack was its unusual timing — the enemy drones moved en masse toward Kyiv region during the morning hours.

Other main targets included Odesa and Zaporizhzhia regions, where air defence forces operated under conditions of extremely high intensity.

As of 11:00, Ukrainian defence forces had shot down or suppressed 194 enemy drones using electronic warfare systems.

The repulsion of the attack involved surface-to-air missile troops, aviation, mobile fire groups, and UAV units.

Despite the effective work of Ukraine’s air defenders, 16 strike UAVs hit 10 different locations. Additionally, the fall of debris from downed targets caused damage or fires at 11 facilities in the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.

It is recalled that Russian forces attacked residential areas in Zaporizhzhia, causing destruction and injuries.

Russian troops also attacked four branches of Ukrposhta, leaving employees injured.
