Russian troops attack residential area of Zaporizhzhia: destruction and injuries reported
Late in the evening of 15 March, Russian occupiers launched another strike on the civilian infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia, hitting residential neighbourhoods in the city.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
As a result of the enemy attack, private homes caught fire in one of the districts, while several buildings were completely destroyed by the blast wave and direct hits.
Emergency crews from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine quickly began working at the impact sites. Operating in extremely difficult conditions, firefighters battled the flames in order to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring households.
Published footage of the aftermath shows extensive damage: shattered windows, destroyed property and charred walls of what remained of private houses.
The head of the regional administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that civilians were injured in the shelling and required immediate hospitalisation.
Among the wounded were people of different ages, once again confirming the terrorist nature of enemy attacks on densely populated areas.
“An 18-year-old man and women aged 48 and 81 were injured. All of them are receiving the necessary medical assistance,” Fedorov wrote in his official address to the community.
Doctors and rescuers continue to work at the scene, providing psychological and practical assistance to the affected residents of Zaporizhzhia.
In addition to emergency services, law enforcement officers are working in the affected neighbourhood, documenting the aftermath of the attack for international judicial institutions.
Each act of destruction of civilian infrastructure is being recorded as another war crime committed by Russia against Ukraine’s civilian population, which has no military justification.
Earlier, Russian forces attacked four branches of Ukrposhta, leaving employees injured.
Russian forces also attacked a fuel tanker in Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in one person killed and another injured.
